naut-cotic Wrap-Up

Well, that's it! Page 53 has been added to naut-cotic, this is the end of the chapter and also the final page of wave 2. I still have some work to do on the revised and upscaled version, but the next time you see the characters they should be sporting their new designs. Except Daffodil and Ixora of course, they're not going to be back.
Now that I've reached this small milestone I guess I'm able to talk about a few things. I intended from the very start for Daffodil and Ixora to be killed off, that was their sole purpose. Originally the scene was to be about 5 pages in length, but I ended up extending it. To be truthful, they didn't even have names until around page 18 when it became apparent that they were necessary. Hopefully this goes a little way to explaining why they were such dull and unimaginative characters. I'm sorry about that.
Looking back, starting the comic without using my primary cast was not the best of ideas. I wanted the first chapter to be an introduction to the world that didn't really touch on the main story line at all. I understand that this made things rather confusing, but I can assure you that most things do get explained further along the line. It becomes blindingly obvious that Ajisai and Forget Me Not (The two characters dressed in blue) are there to explain things. They'll look after you. I've also been writing a guide to accompany the comic, this gives background details on locations, technology and other things such as the whacky metric time system. I've been working on the guide since the outset, but it hasn't been accessible on the web site as of yet. With all that being said, the comic is supposed to be fairly dream-like in its presentation; so some things just don't get explained. Hehe.
Moving swiftly on, the next chapter is already planned out and I'll be starting work on it as soon as I'm happy with the character designs. The next chapter's very different from the previous one, mainly as it follows Narcissus; the main character. I'm not quite sure what people's reactions will be to Narc, he doesn't exactly have the most endearing of personalities.
I'll be updating you at a later date regarding the new stuff, I should have some pictures to show you by then. Things haven't changed very much, naut-cotic still looks and feels very similar, so don't worry.

Oh well, I can live with that, at least both died somewhat painlessly.
Narcissus, the main character, the name gives the me the thought that he must be rather self absorbed, since it is the name of the legendary person who fell in love with his own reflection.
